Septic Systems
The purpose of the Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Ordinance shall be to provide minimum standards for the regulation of subsurface sewage treatment systems and septage disposal including the proper location, design and construction to protect surface water and groundwater from contamination by human sewage and waterborne household and commercial wastes; to protect the public's health and safety, and eliminate or prevent the development of public nuisances.
Licensed septic system designers, inspectors and installers must be used when upgrading or replacing septic systems in Martin County.
