Land Use

Construction, alteration and the movement of buildings and/or structures may require a building permit that can be obtained from the department.  If you are unsure if your building project requires a permit, contact the Martin County Planning and Zoning Office.

The purpose of the Zoning Ordinance is to promote health, safety, order, convenience and general welfare, by regulating the use of land, the location and the use of buildings and the arrangement of buildings on lots, the density of population and the division of the county into districts for the orderly future development of the area of Martin County, Minnesota, or parts thereof outside the incorporated limits of the municipalities.
